Small fine for supplier of Sky card sharing

A supplier of Satelite systems was today given small fines totalling £2,000 and ordered to pay costs for supplying card sharing software that allowed users of set to boxes to view Turkish and Italian football.

The Judge at Chester Crown Court fined two companies for safety failures following a blaze at the Gateway industrial estate in June 2007. A ‘newton hearing’ was avoided by a novel use of a ‘Joint Experts Meeting’ to reduce costs.

Phillip Coates, from Cudworth Near Barnsley, was convicted by District Judge Rosenberg, of riding his Segway PT motorised scooter on the pavement. He had denied the charge as he was not alleged to have ridden the Segway in a dangerous or inconsiderate manner, but simply for using it on the pavement under the Highways Act 1835.
