Record fine for Corporate Manslaughter
Dickinson Dees have reported the much anticipated prosecution of Lion Steel Equipment Limited under corporate manslaughter legislation, that has now concluded. Lion Steel has pleaded guilty to corporate manslaughter and the company has been fined a record amount of £480,000. The original prosecution also included charges against the company for breach of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (“HSWA”) and charges of gross negligence manslaughter and breach of HSWA against three directors of the company. However, these charges were discontinued by the prosecution during the course of the proceedings. √جª¬ø
