R3 blockchain bank consorium launches Corda

The blockchain banking startup R3 CEV have announced its plans to build CORDA, its own ‘enterprise grade’ distributed ledger platform as well as road testing all the major smart contract platforms on behalf of it’s consortium members. Could this be an alternative to Ripple?

The Blockchain trade organisation, the CDC, knocked the ball out of the park with the blockchain summit in Washinton DC on 3rd March 2016. The speakers and invited guests delivered their message in a relentless display of technical knowlege, enthuasiam and insight, coupled with the occasional eye on the thorny issue of how best to deal with the regulators, most of whom have not yet decided whether or not they are for or against the whole idea.
The main themes were; that blockchain digitisies assets allowing them to be transferred across the internet, Public vs Private chains, and the techniques increase the speed of capital in the same way that the interent increased the speed of information.

Jeremy has been appointed Visting Professor of Algorithmic Regulation and Dispute Resolution at the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, University College London.
Together with Professor Philip Treleaven and Dr Adriano Koshiyama, he has authored a paper ‘Algorithms: Law and Regulation’ which is published in the February 2019 edition of the ‘Computer’ IEEE Computer Society , volume 52 .no 2. This follows the publication of ‘Algorithmic Dispute Resolution’ with Professor Treleaven , October 2017 The British Computer Society.
